Waiting for Ladybug

In the absence of  knowing the name of our daughter we will call her Ladybug…

It is still our believe that the Lord is leading us to adopt in Macedonia, the officials were instructed to continue with the process.

We had our home study as well as the required psychological testing done.   The Adoption office confirmed on Friday that the Adoption board has to approve us as prospective parents.

Hopefully all this will be done by the end of August/mid September.  In the meantime we have to fill in a new statement and a checklist of the child’s particulars.  We were told than children who do not have any disability are generally reserved for local Macedonian families.

Danie and I and the children have prayed about this and is seeking God in our decisions. We believe He will provide us with the child that will be right for our family.  It is kind of scary leaving it in His Hands, but that is the best place to leave this and we are comfortable with this.

We have a wonderful support system of friends here that are really helping us and will continue to support our family through this adoption.  We have been keeping the door open for conversations about it; being accountable is tough;  by listening to people’s for and against arguments.   Trying to bring understanding to an emotional conversation with biblical answers is so difficult mainly because our vastly different contexts.

“Your believes don’t make you a good person, your behavior does” summarizes the value of serving in our family and we trust our lives are a testimony to this.  God has been pushing our boundaries continuously to the point that when it doesn't feel uncomfortable we probably opted for the easy way out. After the first cross cultural adoption with its complications it naturally came to us to agree with with the plan God laid out before us.  After all if God’s Will is known, our job is to obey, period.  All we know is He will provide a child and its our responsibility to raise her.

Being here and living here for nearly 2 years now we realize that the best way to show His love, is by living it so that people can see Him in us. The way we raise our children, adopting the least wanted, caring for animals and accepting people as He would accept them.   By adopting Ladybug we will expand the love He is given us and our family will be richer for it.  He will provide in our and her every need, as he has done so far.

If you are reading this and you are one of the family or friends having doubts or concerns, please contact us via email or Skype and then we can try and explain to you why we feel so convinced to proceed.
